My wife and I are raising 5 grandchildren. We didn't plan things this way, but the lord saw fit that we should have this task and we accept it with gladness. In going through all the processes involved with this. we have always had to search and struggle to find resources. I hope this page will be of help to others in the same situation. It is never an easy task to take on after raising your family, but we have never considered any other options. At least this way, we know our grandchildren are safe, healthy, and taken care of. We found one fact we were not aware of over the years. The state of Texas has the largest percentage of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren than any other state in the country. Texas is also the state that does the least to help these people that had to start over for various reasons. We hope to be able to place resources here that will be of help to you.

Update: This update is posted on December 25, 2009. Since setting up this page, the state of Texas has seen fit to end all grandparents rights with grandchildren. Since that has occurred the father of Rachel has been allowed to take her from us and stop us from seeing her. We have no rights, but her father is living with his ex-wife and her husband and they can put him out after 6 months and take custody of Rachel and we have no say or control over the situation. It is only a matter of time, considering the father has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence history, and owes a huge amount of money in child support for a child he signed away to keep from paying. We can only pray that one day the lord will see fit to deal with the situation. I do not plan to harbor any resentment, if that is possible, because I know in my heart that when the time comes, these people will have to answer to a higher authority than they ever imagined.
